About Mrs. Griffith:
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s elementary school counselor. My name is Nichelle Griffith and I will be working in your student’s school at West Side Elementary.
As our first step in building a relationship, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I currently live in Milton, WI with my husband Shane, but had lived in Madison, WI for six years prior to moving. After graduating from Edgewood College in Madison, WI with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, I began to work as a Police Officer for the City of Madison Police Department. This was a great experience for me, but I wanted to continue my education and work toward my passion of working with children and adolescents. I decided to make the switch to school counseling because I knew I was interested in taking on a role that would allow me to focus on the social and emotional development and well being of children from a more preventative perspective. With that said, I worked hard and received my Masters degree at Lakeland College. During my Masters program, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of staff, students, and families at ten schools in four different districts. I am very excited to extend my knowledge, education, and career experience here at West Side Elementary.
During the school year I will be working with staff, the community, parents, and students. My door is always open if you ever have any questions or concerns about your child. In the classroom I will be working with students on topics such as friendship, decision making, drug awareness, developing good character, violence prevention, career exploration, and much more. I will also be holding small groups that focus on topics such as loss, divorce, friendship, self-control, and other topics of interest as they arise. I work with students individually throughout the year as well. If you are ever interested in having your child participate in a small group or work with me individually please contact me here at school.
I am really looking forward to a great school year working with students, parents/guardians, the community, and staff. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about your child. You can contact me at 262-723-3297 or email me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Nichelle Griffith
